Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I moved to Los Angeles from San Diego; a little over two years ago to pursue my makeup artistry career as well as my acting and modeling career. I have been a freelance makeup artist for 13 years and have always had a passion for makeup and making people beautiful and feel good about themselves. Now being in Hollywood it all just goes hand in hand with the other things. I am very passionate about acting, modeling, fashion, and photography.
What do you do?
I am a makeup artist and actress; I actually have a movie coming out this year. "Bigger Than The Beatles" in which I am playing the iconic beauty "Sharon Tate." Along with makeup and acting, I love dabbling in the modeling scene as well; I have always had a passion for modeling and love being able to capture a creative vision that modeling allows you to do. Since doing modeling, I have found a desire to be behind the camera as well and have found a huge passion for photography.
What do you love most about makeup?
What do I love most about makeup? Hmmmm.. the way it just makes you feel completely sexy!!!! You can be having a bad day and just pop on a red lip and feel like you can take on the city. I love the way you can enhance your natural beauty or have fun with color by creating a beautiful art on your face. Makeup is a creative outlet that gives you the chance to be whoever it is you want to be.
How would you describe your signature look? What makes you different from other makeup artists?
My signature look is natural; I love the fresh look when you wake up and look effortless, very Bohemian the look that you rolled out of bed and look very Kate Moss or Sienna Miller. I also love the looks like I went out the night before but still look sexy and very Rock & Roll look. I think what makes me different than most makeup artist is that I have had the opportunity to be on the other side of the camera and understand both sides of the business.
What are some of your makeup products that you use?
I love a variety of makeup brands some of my must-haves for my everyday makeup is Tom Fords Illuminating Primer, which makes your skin glow and look flawless; I also love Tom Fords Shade and Illuminate Sculptor ET Illuminer, Tom Ford liquid liner phenomenal. I also love Tom Ford’s eyebrow pencil, so easy to use and has a built in sharpener. Naked pigment by M.A.C; I cannot do makeup without it!!!!! I love my natural lip, so some of my can’t live with outs are Myth lipstick by M.A.C and Nude Vanille by Tom Ford. If I am feeling bold and dark I love “Diva” lipstick another of M.AC’s, and If I am feeling like painting the town red I love Tom Fords “Cherry Red”, the perfect red for any woman. I also love Ruby Woo and Russian Red by M.A.C. I love to finish my look with the La Mer’s Mist which gives you an instant energy boost when you spray it on. No look is ever complete without your favorite fragrance; I always go for Tom Ford or the classic Chanel to leave my scent around the city.
Who are some people that have inspired you throughout your career?
So many people inspire me in the industry for starters the one and only beautiful “Kate Moss” my all-time favorite woman she is my inspiration with style, makeup, and modeling, she's one of the most stylish women in the world. I also have always loved and been inspired by Sienna Miller she is not only beautiful as well, but an extremely talented actor and always looks on point with fashion. Gwen Stefani, I grew up idolizing as well, I have always loved her style from old No Doubt to now. Lana Del Rey another person that influence’s my love, love, love her, she is extremely talented and creative. I get very much inspired by old Hollywood icons like Sharon Tate, Bridget Bardot, and Jane Birkin. (I should have been born in the 60’s or 70’s I love that time.) Along with my makeup career, I have met some of the most amazing and talented people in the industry; too many to name but each one of them has taught me something unique and special if not about makeup about life in general. Last but not least the most important is my father he inspires me every day to keep going and never give up.
Would you like to have a makeup line of your own?
I love makeup and could be happy doing it for the rest of my life, so having a makeup line would be amazing. Nothing in the works anytime soon, but who knows what the future holds.
Any tips you’d like to share with us?
Always moisturize day and night!!! Drink lots of water. Put makeup on even when you don’t feel like it, it always makes you feel better about yourself. And be comfortable in your own skin because that’s when beauty exudes no trick to that just doing. And” Love”…. being in love makes everybody look better, its happiness and that makes everyone glow and look beautiful.
What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion to me is expression, its story telling…it’s giving you the opportunity to tell any story you want. The beautiful thing about fashion is that you can change your story at any time.
What is one trend you are looking forward to this season?
Get a jump on Springs 70’s trend, that’s what Style.com is raving about…. And I am a flower child at heart, so I am looking forward to the 70’s being an influence on fashion this season. Also, the color “Blush” is the color of the season, it's sexy elegant and feminine love it.
How would you describe your style?
I love all fashion and love looking elegant and classy when necessary, but my day to day look I would say is “Rocker Chic”.
How old were you when you started your acting career?
I started modeling at age 16 and got into acting years later. I always wanted to move to Los Angeles and pursue this industry. Timing is everything and I was able to finally make the move a little over 2 years ago.
Tell us something about the movie you are in? What is the movie about?
The movie is called “Bigger Than The Beatles” a Vaughn Juares film about the true story of Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys and how he found an intense singer/songwriter who he introduced to Hollywood. That musician was sure that one day he’d be a household name. That musician did find fame, but not for his music because that musician was Charles Manson. I play the iconic beauty “Sharon Tate.” I feel like I was supposed to play this part, I remember before I moved to LA when I was still living in San Diego a woman told me I looked like Sharon Tate. I was younger and was not familiar with who she was. The women told me to go home and look her up, so I did… I was even surprised at the resemblance. And remember being so heartbroken for her tragedy. Since playing her in the movie I have researched her and have found that she was a very kind and sweet soul, I feel like she and I were very similar in a lot of ways more than just our appearance. Honored to play her!!!!!
Is this your first movie?
Yes, this is my first movie! I hope to just keep getting more, It was a small piece but I learned a lot and more than anything I am thankful for the experience, I am so very excited to be a part of this movie. I think it will do great I cannot wait to see what the future holds.
Who do you look up to in the acting world?
So many people where do I start? I love old movies so Audrey Hepburn, Loretta Young, Sharon Tate, Brigitte Bardot, James Dean, Frank Sinatra, Elvis. So that’s why playing Sharon Tate was such an amazing experience because I should have been born in that time. Today so many people influence me for starters Kate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Natalie Portman, Haley Berry, Penelope Cruz, Julia Roberts, Sienna Miller, Eva Mendez, Angelina Jolie, Emma Thurman, Kate Hudson, Mark Wahlberg, Johnny Deep, Ray Liotta, Denzel Washington, Jack Nicholson and so much more.
Tell us what is one thing you would like to accomplish this year?
